English Teacher are a post punk lame? or wonk band from Leeds, Yorkshire. This was the first band I saw at psych fest 2021 and I've been looking forward to catch them again for a full set.
They opened with the single 'World's Biggest Paving Slab'. (Which is in Colne) whilst lyrically the song is about not being noticed and walked over, they name drop the Pendle Witches and John Simm. A great song with some spoken word vocals towards the end with punky driving riffs leading to the chorus.
Some other highlights were 'A55' with a great wonky riff and a build up to the heavier repeating chorus.
'Song about love' is it a song about love? Or a song about a love song? Who cares just chant
Love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love Love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love Love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love Love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love Love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love Love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love Love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love Love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love Love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love Love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love Love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love
Overall English Teacher have great delivery of their lyrics, a mix of spoken word/sung with a backdrop of the punky hooks and beat.
After the last song they announced that they are releasing a full LP in 2024.
